When you close your eyes and envisage your wedding band, do you see?
Your wedding band is destined to be worn forever. When mulling over your options, it important to consider practicalities like budget and durability. What’s most important of all, however, is that your ring satisfies your unique personal style. Whether you find comfort in the traditional or find yourself drawn towards unusual design, you owe it to yourself to choose a wedding band that's reflective of you.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ETERNITY BAND AND A WEDDING BAND?
By definition, the eternity ring is characterised by a never-ending row of diamonds or precious gemstones set around the entirety of the band, their eternal nature symbolic of eternal love. The eternity style is typically associated with the commitment ring, which is gifted from spouse to spouse post-marriage, usually as a means of celebrating a special occasion like an anniversary.
Meanwhile, a 'wedding band' is any ring - regardless of design - received during a wedding ceremony and worn long-term to symbolise marriage.
CAN YOU USE AN ETERNITY RING AS A WEDDING RING?

The short answer is: Yes.
Though the eternity design is conventionally associated with commitment rings, all we’re dealing with here are bands encrusted with sparkling stones. If bling’s your thing, there’s no reason an eternity design couldn’t fulfil the wedding band role!
Whilst it's not considered a traditional pick for a wedding band, the eternity design is a timeless blueprint steeped in the kind of symbolism that never goes out of fashion. This makes it a befitting candidate for a wedding band in our eyes.
WHAT IS THE DOWNSIDE OF ETERNITY RINGS?

An atypical western wedding band is traditionally plain, polished, substantial and cast in a hard-wearing precious metal like gold or platinum. Ergonomic and modest designs of this nature are reflective of a need for comfort, practicality and longevity.
Meanwhile, with their entire bands of precious gemstones and often delicate forms, eternity rings are arguably a little more accident-prone, requiring a different level of upkeep.
It's also worth bearing in mind that full-set eternity bands don't lend themselves readily to adjustments, sometimes making the resizing process a complex or costly affair.
All this said, your wedding band is an important visual symbol of your commitment to your partner, thus an opportunity to express yourself authentically. Don't compromise on your vision on account of being deterred by small practicalities. With the correct care and maintenance, your special eternity ring with sparkle for years on end.
Historically, it was customary for a bride and groom’s wedding bands to match via corresponding designs. From Turkey to Arabia and China, various cultures have even embraced the tradition of wearing wedding bands that fit one another like puzzle pieces!
Nowadays, traditions are loosening and weddings serve as a fun opportunity for bride and groom to collaborate in a way that celebrates each of their unparalleled personalities. Whilst your partner might have their mind set on a simplistic polished band of yellow gold, your heart might be set aflutter by a twinkling loop of blue sapphires – and that mismatched cohesiveness is a beautiful encapsulation of you as individuals.
If - after careful consideration - you’re confident that a sparkling eternity ring is a bit of you, the next decision you’ll need to make is one measured in carats.
A band set with a full hoop of gemstones – a traditional eternity ring - embraces the romantic symbolism of eternal commitment.
Meanwhile, a half-set band packs peripheral sparkle at half of the price. Half-set bands are therefore a crafty means of staying within budget, but they can turn on the finger, revealing a plain underside from time to time. If you’re a bit of a perfectionist, this is worth taking into consideration.
